Patrick is named in honor of the founder and first director of Camp Hinds, Herbert "Skipper" Patrick. Peter Curran recalls that the opening of Patrick was in 1958, and that he, Alan Ayer and Paul Emery were in on clearing it. There was a contest in camp to name the new site and that he won the contest and was awarded a pen and pencil set by Mace MacPherson at the opening campfire. |
