To supplement
the 22 caliber rifle range program we began a 22 shotgun program in the
early sixties. Known as “mo-skeet” this program uses 22 caliber shotgun
shells and small clay “pigeons.” The clay pigeons were about 2 inches
in diameter. First set up in the field near the Training Center,
then in the field near the present “Hinds” gateway sign, eventually the
mo-skeet range followed the rifle range to the present location in the
woods across from Cadigan lodge.
A certain camp director started his camp staff career teaching Athletics Merit Badge in the morning and running mo-skeet in the evening. The normal fee was three shots for a dime. But often times Scouts wanted to continue shooting beyond the 8:00 closing time. Scouts would often pay 10 cents per shot and even a quarter a shot after 8:00. |
