As our 75th
anniversary approached we decided that it would be appropriate to collect
and preserve as much as possible of the camp’s history, and the best place
to do this would be in the center room of the Recreation Hall. Cathy
Gosselin got help from many former staff members in finding photos and
memorabilia of our past. A beautiful set of framed display cases
were built on the left-hand wall, containing year-by-year collections.
The opposite wall was used to hang photos of many past camp events, a glass
display case was filled and the corners of the room filled with historic
items. Peter Curran director in 1977, exhumed the time capsule which
had been buried at our fiftieth anniversary and its contents of photos
and artifacts were added to the museum.
The museum was named for Bill Adams, who had been a mainstay of the Council’s camping facilities committee for many years, lending his engineering expertise to several major projects, including the remodeling of the recreation hall and the shoring up of the dining hall roof. At the 75th anniversary celebration
we honored Bill for his contributions in the presence of his wife and his
son, Howard, who had been a staff member in the 1950s.
