The Order of
the Arrow became a part of our camp program in 1944 when the first nine
members were inducted in July. The ceremonial team chose a spot on the
hill behind where Cadigan Lodge now stands as the ceremonial grounds, built
a small altar fire there and peformed their duties. Frank Bailey,
one of the new inductees, was instructed to construct a typical Scout candelabra
for the ceremony as a part of his Ordeal tasks.
Within a few years that original site was determined to be too small so Frank and others found a larger and more impressive site which is still in use today. With the help of Lee Weeks and Clyde
Nason, Jr., the original site has been relocated and a commemorative altar
fireplace was built there under the leadership of Matt Dubois for anniversary
ceremonies.
