1984-1990
He was born on Jan. 25, 1946, in Fort Worth, TX, a son of, Emil and
Evelyn (McLennan) Gisel. He attended school in Santa Cruz, CA and immediately
enlisted in the US Navy.
On August 15, 1965 he married, Judy Blake in Reno, Nevada.
Glen served our country as a Navy man for over 20 years. He and his
family were stationed all over the country (and Europe) including San Diego,
CA, Memphis, TN, Patuxent River, MD, Jacksonville, Florida, Spain, and
eventually Brunswick, ME.
One of Glen’s passions was his involvement in the Boy Scouts and regularly
brought his Brunswick troop to Camp Hinds in Raymond. As word of his nearing
retirement from the service spread to the Camp in the late 1980’s, he was
offered the position of Camp Ranger for Camp Hinds as his first civilian
job. He and his family lived at Camp Hinds for 10 years before purchasing
a home on Main St. in Raymond. For a time, he also worked as a Raymond
school bus driver. He also volunteered for Raymond Fire & Rescue and
was Rescue Captain for nearly 10 years. He was also a member of the American
Legion.
For 20 plus years, Glen has owned and operated Downeast Sharpening
and Small Engine Repair, servicing countless locals’ small engine needs. |
