granddaughter, I
spent a lot of time
in Raymond in the
house, training
center, and camp
area. I have so
many fond memories,
it would be
difficult to list
them. My grandparents were kind, loving people. I visited the camp ranger house where they lived in the seventies. I remember the stairway to the attic still had photos and the old crank telephone on the steps. I remember my grandmother cranking it to make a call. I remember their old cylinder record player, singing in the living room, family gatherings at Thanksgiving, laying in the back field hiding in the tall grass, and picking Mayflowers with my grandmother. My grandfather made me and my brother a kite, my brother's got lost to one of those tall pines. I remember trying to get the boycouts in the backyard to talk, but they wouldn't as they were working on a badge. When I see the pictures on these pages, it warms my heart. Thank you for the place where many of my childhood memories were born! | ||

posting: My edited post shows that I am the niece of William Hinds. I am also the niece of Wadsworth Hinds and Charles Hinds and most important I am the eldest child of Aurelius Stone Hinds 2nd aka "Larry", the only surviving son of Charles B. Hinds and his wife Augusta Wadsworth Hinds. | ||
| Sat May 07, 2011 11:50:03 Bruce Foster My Grandfather was the Camp Ranger | My Grandfather, Fred Foster, and his wife Dorris lived in the big white house across from the entrance to Camp Hinds. My father, Herman Foster, was a professional Boy Scout setting up camps and troops all over New England in the late 50's and into the 70's. My brother Jim and I grew up spending our summers at Camp Hinds with our grandparents. My brother made the rank of Life Scout and was in the order of the arrow. I made Eagle in 1967 and was in the order of the arrow also. My sister Kaye has a son Colby, who made Eagle in Utah a couple of years ago. Dad was an eagle Scout, order of the arrow also. Dad and I got over 50 Merit badges each. Our Grandfather, Fred Foster was the camp Ranger in the 50' and 60's. | ||

He made some good friend along the way. My Dad loved his family more. That why when we were kids, we lived at Hinds for many summers with My Mom and Dad and Brothers. We all loved it there. I learned a lot. Like how to tie knots and make lanyards. Don't forget painting trash cans which I hated. Thanks for letting me share some of my memories With you. In loving memories My Dad O'C. | ||
